Extending the Winter Season: Nordic Expeditions on Lake Baikal and Lake Khuvsgul.
Speaker: Kirill Shalyaev
Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:30 p.m.
Hausmann Nature Center, Lapham Peak
Join us as Kirill Shalyaev shares an exciting journey through two Nordic skating expeditions on Siberia’s Lake Baikal and Mongolia’s Lake Khuvsgul. As close to skate skiing as it gets, Nordic skating offers the thrill of gliding across vast, clear ice while facing the challenge of camping in extreme conditions. Kirill will showcase the breathtaking beauty of these remote landscapes and discuss the planning and equipment involved.

Race Training Group
We are excited to launch this new program aimed at helping skiers level up their fitness, technique and readiness for better on-snow performance. You can be aiming at better results in the Birkie, Korte or Lapham Loppet, participate in Wednesday Ski League races or simply want to feel more comfortable on your skis. This group is intended for skiers that may have gained all they can from more basic instruction such as Tuesday Night Lessons, and are interested in refining and expanding on what they have already learned. We expect that most people will be doing a race of some kind during the season but you do not have to!
Meets Wednesdays at 5:45. Location changes. See event list for details and location for each week's meeting.
Roller Skiing and Nordic Walking Facebook Groups
We have separate Facebook groups to make it easier to find information on times and locations.
About the Club:
It's been a short eight years since the first seeds of what is now the Lapham Peak Ski Club sprouted. In the fall of 2016 meetings were held and feedback was gathered to explore the idea. With the community solidly behind us we launched the new ski club formally the next year—as Over the Peak Ski Club. That year we began holding club events and began raising money to support the other organizations that are growing the next generation of skiers and making Lapham Peak a better place to ski. We now have over 300 members and reach over 1000 members of the community in a variety of ways.
Each year we gain more members, begin more programs and raise more money—over $140,000 so far—in support of our mission. This year is no exception. We are making a number of changes that will help to support the growth of the club into the future.
